? ? ? 鋯[gào]砂亦稱鋯英砂、鋯英石,是一種以鋯的硅酸鹽為主要組成的礦物。純凈的鋯英砂為無色透明晶體,常因產地不同、含雜質的種類與數量不同而染成黃、橙、紅、褐等色,結晶構造屬四方晶系,呈四方錐柱形,比重4.64.71,比重的變化有時與成分和蝕變狀態有關鋯英石解理不**,均勻莫氏硬度為78級,折射率1.93-2.01,熔點隨所含雜質的不同在21902420內波動。主要化學組成為ZrO2;SiO2,及少量Fe2O3、CaO、AI2O3等雜質。鋯英砂的理論組成為ZrO2:67.1;SiO2:32.9。它是ZrO2-SiO2系**的化合物。但天然鋯砂僅含約5766ZrO2。
? ? ? 鋯英石是一種主要由火成巖形成時從巖漿中結晶出來的鋯、硅和氧組成的礦物。鋯英石也產于巖脈和變質巖中。它屬四方晶系,常呈發育良好的錐狀小四方柱體,也成不規則粒狀。性脆,斷口貝殼狀。是優質的耐火材料。多與鈦鐵礦、金紅石、獨居石、磷釔礦等共生于海濱砂中,經水選、電選、磁選等選礦工藝分選后而得到。

? ? ? 鋯英砂極耐高溫,其熔點達2750。并耐酸腐蝕。世界上有80的直接用于鑄造工業、陶瓷、玻璃工業以及制造耐火材料。少量的用于鐵合金、醫藥、油漆、制革、磨料、化工及核工業。極少量的用于冶煉金屬鋯。
? ? ? 含ZrO26566的鋯英石砂因其耐熔性而直接用作鑄造廠鐵金屬的鑄型材料。鋯英石砂具有較低的熱膨脹性、**的導熱性,而且較其他普通耐熔材料有較強的化學穩定性,因此優質鋯英石和其他各種粘合劑一起有良好的粘結性而用于鑄造業。鋯英石砂也用作玻璃窯的磚塊。而鋯英石砂和鋯英石粉與其他耐熔材料混合還有其他用途。
? ? ? 鋯英砂用于耐火材料,鑄造行業鑄型用砂,精密搪瓷器具,此外也用于玻璃、金屬以及鋯化合物的生產中。可制作玻璃窯的鋯英石磚,盛鋼桶用鋯英石磚、搗打料和澆注料;添加到其它材料中可**其性能,如合成堇青石中添加鋯英砂,可拓寬堇青石的燒結范圍,而又不影響其熱震穩定性;在高鋁磚中添加鋯英砂,制造抗剝落高鋁磚,熱震穩定性大大提高;還可用于提取ZrO2。鋯英砂可做鑄造用優質原砂,鋯英砂粉是鑄造用涂料主要成分。
